Streathers Solicitors LLP, based in the heart of London’s West End, is a boutique firm, which offers services in Private Client, Residential and Commercial Property, Enfranchisement, Dispute Resolution, Corporate and Commercial Law.
The opportunity:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and ambitious Private Client Solicitor with 1-3 years Post-Qualified Experience (PQE) to join our thriving team. This role offers the chance to gain exposure to a wide variety of sophisticated private client work, including advising an international client base. This is an ideal position for a solicitor looking to strengthen their expertise and contribute meaningfully to a highly successful team. You will receive mentoring and training from our private client partner, as well as having the opportunity to work directly with our clients.
Key responsibilities:
Working on a range of private client matters, including:
- Estate Planning: Drafting wills, often involving foreign assets, business interests, and complex family structures. Providing bespoke inheritance tax planning advice, to achieve client objectives.
- Probate and Estate Administration: Assisting with the management of complex and often high-value probate matters, including cross-border estates with multi-jurisdictional assets and intestacy rules.
- Taxation: Providing comprehensive advice on UK tax implications for individuals, including income tax, capital gains tax, and inheritance tax, with a particular focus on international clients.
- Trusts: Advising on the creation and administration of trusts, including advising trustees on their duties.
- Powers of Attorney: Drafting and advising on Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs) for property and financial affairs, and health and welfare, as well as general powers of attorney.
- International Client Work: A significant element of the work will involve advising high-net-worth international clients, including non-resident individuals, on their UK assets, tax considerations, and succession planning under supervision.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Proactively managing your own caseload, under appropriate supervision.
- Displaying excellent commercial awareness
- Drafting clear, concise, and legally accurate documents, often in a highly bespoke manner.
- Attending and leading client meetings, building strong, long-lasting client relationships.
- Collaborating effectively with colleagues to provide holistic client solutions.
- Actively participating in business development and marketing initiatives.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with 1-3 years PQE gained within a reputable firm.
- Demonstrable experience across a broad range of private client matters.
- Proven experience in advising high-net-worth individuals.
- An understanding of the complexities involved in advising international clients is desirable.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are paramount.
- Strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a proactive problem-solving approach.
- A strong academic record (2:1 degree or higher)
- A genuine willingness to actively engage in business development activities, raise the firm’s profile, and contribute to the growth and reputation of the department.
- STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) qualification is highly desirable but not essential.
