Our family department is seeking an experienced Family Associate/Senior Associate to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience handling all aspects of private family law including divorce and finances, child arrangements, nuptial agreements, cohabitation agreements and cohabitation disputes. We are looking for a proactive candidate to deliver consistently high levels of client service. A candidate with a loyal client or referrer following would be ideal but not a requirement.
Duties
- Taking on matters within the family law departments including divorce and finances, child arrangements, nuptial agreements, cohabitations agreements and cohabitation disputes
- Managing own case load and building your own work and building contacts with local agents/referrers
- Contributing to business development efforts and the growth and development of the department by attending marketing and networking events as well as providing regular content for external newsletters and legal updates
- Obtaining regular positive feedback from clients, colleagues and referrers
- Taking on responsibility within a close-knit team and helping to teach trainees and paralegals
- Dealing directly with clients to take instructions and deliver on client expectations
- Working closely with partners and solicitors to develop client relationship skills
- Identifying and following relevant SRA principles and rules of professional conduct
- Complying with risk management processes and policies
Requirements
- Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, organisational and administrative skills
- Adept client care skills and ability to manage own caseload
- Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Must be experienced at multi-tasking, dealing with vulnerable clients, managing time sensitive documents and taking responsibility for delegated tasks
- Must thrive in a busy, team-oriented environment
Experience and qualifications
- Must have at least 5-year PQE within a family law department
- Must have obtained a 2:1 or 1st class undergraduate degree
