Streamline Recruitment are currently recruiting for an Imports Coordinator to join a well-established freight forwarding and logistics business in Basildon. This is a great opportunity for someone with previous imports or freight forwarding experience who is looking to join a busy and supportive operations team.
Role Overview
You’ll be responsible for managing import movements from the initial pre-arrival stage through to final clearance and release. The role requires close attention to detail to ensure all operational steps, paperwork, costing, and communication are handled accurately and within the required timeframes.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee import shipments from pre-arrival through to completion using internal systems
- Raise invoices for UK importers ahead of goods arriving, ensuring correct duty/tariff application
- Input and maintain job costs in line with accounting periods
- Review supplier invoices, resolving any discrepancies before processing
- Finalise and close jobs once all costs have been captured and reconciled
- Arrange onward transport and delivery schedules with external carriers
- Process release instructions through relevant customs and port systems when required
- Monitor any inspections or holds and follow through until resolution
- Communicate with customers, transport providers, warehouses, and internal teams to keep shipments moving
- Ensure clearance instructions are relayed to the relevant teams without delay
- Handle incoming calls and day-to-day operational queries
- Update exchange rates based on carrier information and maintain system accuracy
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience within imports
- Knowledge of CNS and Destin8 systems advantageous
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy with data entry and costing
- Good communication skills across internal and external stakeholders
