We’re working with a global logistics company who is looking to appoint an experienced Transport Planner / Coordinator to join their busy transport operation in Stanford-le-Hope. This is a key role within the planning team, responsible for ensuring the efficient scheduling and movement of goods across the UK and European network. The role suits someone who enjoys fast-paced planning, problem solving, and working closely with drivers, customers, and internal teams to keep operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate daily transport routes to ensure efficient and cost-effective deliveries and collections
- Monitor vehicle availability and driver schedules to maximise utilisation
- Communicate with drivers, subcontractors, and customers regarding schedules, delays, and updates
- Ensure all loads are compliant with transport regulations and company procedures
- React quickly to operational issues, providing practical solutions to minimise disruption
- Maintain accurate system records, including job updates and delivery statuses
- Support with KPI tracking and performance reporting where required
- Work closely with internal departments such as warehouse and customer service teams
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience in transport planning or coordination within a logistics or freight environment
- Good geographical knowledge of the UK (European knowledge beneficial)
- Confident communicator with a professional and practical approach
- Experience using transport management systems (TMS) or similar software
