Streamline Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Lashing Operative to join a well-established logistics company based in Stanford-le-Hope.

As a Flat Rack Lashing Operative, you will play a vital role in ensuring oversized, heavy, and irregular project cargo is safely secured to flat rack containers for transportation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Secure heavy machinery, vehicles, and industrial cargo onto flat rack containers using chains, steel wire ropes, heavy-duty straps, and turnbuckles.
  • Apply a range of lashing methods including top-over, loop, and cross lashing techniques.
  • Inspect and prepare certified lashing equipment, ensuring all gear is safe and fit for use.
  • Assist with the placement of dunnage, timber blocking, and anti-slip materials to ensure correct weight distribution and cargo stability.
  • Operate manual and mechanical tensioning equipment to achieve the required restraint capacity.
  • Carry out safety inspections before cargo is dispatched.
  • Work closely with the operations team to ensure all loading activities are completed efficiently and safely.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
  • Candidate Requirements
  • Previous experience in lashing, cargo securing, port operations, or heavy logistics is preferred.
  • A good understanding of safe loading and cargo restraint practices is advantageous.
  • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
