About the Company
Our client is a leading contractor delivering complex data centre projects across the UK and Europe. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Document Controller to join their project delivery team. The Role
As a Document Controller, you will be responsible for managing all project documentation throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring information is accurate, up to date and distributed efficiently to both internal teams and external stakeholders. Working closely with project managers, design teams, BIM coordinators, engineers and subcontractors, you will maintain document control processes that support the successful delivery of high-value data centre projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain all project documentation throughout the design and construction phases.
- Upload, distribute and track drawings, technical submissions and project documentation using Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) / BIM 360.
- Ensure documents are correctly named, filed and issued in accordance with project protocols and document control procedures.
- Maintain document registers, revision histories and distribution logs.
- Issue drawings, RFIs, technical queries, transmittals and project correspondence.
- Coordinate information between clients, consultants, subcontractors and project teams.
- Monitor outstanding document actions and chase overdue responses where required.
- Support BIM and design teams with document management processes.
- Ensure document revisions are controlled and superseded information is archived correctly.
- Assist with project handover documentation and Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals.
- Produce regular document control reports for project management teams.
- Ensure compliance with company quality procedures and client document management requirements.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience working as a Document Controller within the construction, engineering or building services industry.
- Experience working on Data Centre or other large-scale construction projects is highly desirable.
- Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and/or BIM 360.
- Experience using document management systems such as Aconex, Asite, Viewpoint or SharePoint would be advantageous.
- Excellent understanding of document control procedures and revision management.
- Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence liaising with multidisciplinary project teams.
- Competent in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working within MEP, main contractor or specialist subcontractor environments.
- Knowledge of BIM processes and ISO 19650 information management principles.
- Experience supporting project close-out documentation and digital handovers.
- Understanding of technical construction drawings and project documentation workflows.
