We're looking for an experienced Production Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business. Our client specialises in the design and manufacture of bespoke electrical control systems for the agricultural sector and is looking to expand its close-knit team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative team where you'll play a key role in designing bespoke control panels, supporting the sales process, and working closely with production to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

What's on offer:

  • Salary: £35,000 - £42,000 DOE
  • Hours: Monday to Thursday (8:00am - 4:30pm), Friday (8:00am-3:30pm)
  • Location: Fully office-based
  • Holidays: 20 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays

Key responsibilities:

  • Design bespoke electrical control panels and control systems to meet customer specifications.
  • Produce wiring schematics, panel layouts and assembly drawings using SEE Electrical.
  • Modify and maintain mechanical drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and production routings using Microsoft Dynamics ERP.
  • Work closely with the sales team to review customer enquiries and prepare technical quotations.
  • Provide technical advice and product support to both customers and internal colleagues.
  • Carry out testing and quality inspections of completed control panels prior to dispatch.
  • Support new product development and continuous product improvements.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation, drawings and BOMs.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the business, sharing technical knowledge and supporting the wider team where required.
  • There will be occasional customer interaction, including answering incoming calls and providing technical support when required.
  • On very rare occasions, attend customer sites to assist with technical issues or breakdowns.

About you:

  • Qualified in Electrical Engineering or a similar engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience within a Production Design Engineer, Electrical Design Engineer, Control Panel Design Engineer or similar role.
  • Experience designing electrical control panels and bespoke control systems.
  • Proficient in SEE Electrical or similar electrical CAD software.
  • Experience using SolidWorks to create and modify mechanical drawings.
  • Good understanding of electrical principles, motors and associated control systems.
  • Experience creating Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to liaise with customers and colleagues.
  • A proactive team player who enjoys working within a collaborative office environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics ERP.
  • Knowledge of BS7671 (18th Edition).
  • Knowledge of BS EN 60204.
  • Previous experience within manufacturing, industrial controls or agricultural engineering.
