Quantity Surveyor - Groundworks & Civils

About the Role

An established groundworks and civil engineering contractor is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

The business delivers groundworks, foundations, drainage, roads, earthworks, infrastructure and external works across residential and commercial developments.

The role would suit a Assistant QS, QS, Groundworks Estimator or commercially minded construction professional with around 2-3 years' relevant experience.

Strong groundworks/civils knowledge and commercial awareness are key.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial management of groundworks and civils projects.

Carry out take-offs, measurements, estimates and valuations.

Review drawings, specifications and tender enquiries.

Assist with subcontractor procurement and negotiations.

Monitor project costs, budgets and forecasts.

Manage and price variations and additional works.

Assist with subcontractor applications, payments and final accounts.

Prepare applications for payment and commercial reports.

Liaise with clients, main contractors, subcontractors and site teams.

Work closely with Site and Project Managers to ensure projects are delivered commercially.

Ideal Background

2-3 years' experience within groundworks, civils, construction or a related environment.

Experience of drainage, foundations, roads, earthworks, utilities or residential groundworks.

QS, estimating or commercial experience is beneficial.

Able to understand drawings, quantities, costs and project requirements.

Strong communication, organisational and numerical skills.

Commercially aware with a willingness to develop.

Full UK driving licence desirable.
