We are seeking a detail-orientated and analytical Estimator with a passion for construction to join our team.

Working alongside the Senior Estimator, the ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for a wide variety of commercial construction projects. Candidates must have a building background with extensive knowledge of all aspects of refurbishment and commercial construction across numerous sectors. This role requires a strong understanding of cost control and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. The Estimator will work closely with project managers, engineers and other sub-contractors, and play a crucial role in ensuring our bids are technically accurate, timely and competitive.

Min 3 years experience in an estimating role. Full driving licence and the ability to travel when required is essential.

Duties:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects, including materials, subcontractors, labour and preliminaries from tenders, drawings and client briefs.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal design/production teams.
  • Ensure our tenders are cost-effective and meet budget targets.
  • Assess site constraints (levels, drainage, access, services, etc).
  • Conduct thorough analysis of project specifications and drawings to identify all necessary components for accurate estimation.
  • Conduct site surveys as required, to assess project conditions and support the tendering process.
  • Maintain up-to-date estimating tools, pricing databases and cost records to ensure accuracy and efficiency in future tenders.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender submissions and proposals as required.
  • Source, evaluate and manage quotations from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitiveness and compliance.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 3 years+ proven experience in estimating.
  • Strong understanding of cost estimating principles and practices.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all estimates.
  • Proficient in using estimating software and tools, alongside advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling clear interaction with team members and clients.
  • Estimating construction projects up to £5m in value.
  • HND or equivalent in a surveying or construction related discipline.
