Overview
Our client is a well-established civil engineering contractor delivering infrastructure and public realm works across Cumbria and the Northwest. Due to an increasing workload, they are looking to appoint an experienced Site Supervisor to oversee day‑to‑day operations on civil engineering schemes based in the North West. This is a hands‑on role, ideal for someone who enjoys running sites safely, efficiently, and to a high standard, while working closely with site teams, subcontractors, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate day‑to‑day site activities on civil engineering projects
- Ensure works are delivered safely, on programme, and to specification
- Manage site operatives, subcontractors, plant, and materials
- Maintain high standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance
- Conduct site briefings, toolbox talks
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, clients, and stakeholders
- Monitor progress, report issues, and assist with short‑term planning
- Ensure accurate site records, permits, and documentation are maintained
Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required
- Proven experience as a Site Supervisor or General Foreman within civil engineering
- Strong knowledge of civils operations, sequencing, and site coordination
- Confident leading site teams and managing subcontractors
- Good understanding of health & safety legislation and best practice
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of site delivery
- SMSTS or SSSTS
- CSCS
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience managing teams/gangs
