Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Shift Pattern: Monday-Friday nights, 20:00-06:00 (Initial training period: 10:00-20:00 before moving onto night shifts)

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading container haulage operator seeking an experienced Night Transport Operator to join their busy port operations team. This is a key role supporting the smooth running of night-time transport operations, managing vehicle movements, assisting drivers, and ensuring excellent service delivery. Working closely with the Operations Lead, planners, drivers, and fleet teams, you will help coordinate daily operations, resolve issues, and ensure a smooth handover between shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate night-time vehicle movements and driver activity
  • Ensure transport plans are completed efficiently and issues are resolved quickly
  • Liaise with drivers, planners, operators, and fleet teams to maintain service levels
  • Monitor delays, breakdowns, missed VBS slots, and operational challenges
  • Support cost control, reporting, and operational improvements
  • Complete shift handovers and ensure clear communication between teams
  • Assist with fleet availability and equipment coordination

Job Skills Required

  • Experience within UK transport operations, ideally container haulage or port logistics
  • Previous experience in transport planning, traffic operations, or coordination
  • Understanding of container movements and port processes desirable
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactive approach with strong problem-solving ability
  • Experience with VBS bookings, driver management, or fleet coordination advantageous
