The Opportunity

A growing construction contractor based in Harrow is looking for a commercially minded and proactive Commercial & Pre-Construction Coordinator to join its team and work closely with the Managing Director.

The company specialises in groundworks, reinforced concrete, formwork, basements, underpinning, foundations, drainage and retaining structures.

This is a varied role combining tender coordination, commercial support and client relationship management. You'll play an important part in identifying new opportunities, managing enquiries and helping secure future projects.

It's an excellent opportunity for someone with construction experience who wants to broaden their commercial knowledge, take on more responsibility and progress within a growing business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage project enquiries and coordinate tenders from initial enquiry through to submission and follow-up.

  • Review construction drawings, specifications and tender documentation alongside the estimating and commercial teams.

  • Liaise with clients, developers, main contractors and Quantity Surveyors.

  • Maintain tender registers and track opportunities to ensure deadlines and follow-ups are not missed.

  • Proactively follow up quotations, obtain feedback and help convert opportunities into secured work.

  • Identify upcoming projects, develop new contacts and maintain existing client relationships.

  • Arrange client meetings, site visits and project discussions.

  • Assist with supplier and subcontractor enquiries, pricing and pre-contract negotiations.

  • Work with the Managing Director to improve tendering processes and support business growth.

About You

Welcoming candidates from a range of construction backgrounds.

You should have:

  • A good understanding of the UK construction industry.

  • The ability to interpret construction drawings and tender information.

  • Strong communication, organisational and relationship-building skills.

  • Confidence dealing with clients and contractors by phone and email.

  • A proactive, commercially aware approach with the initiative to follow up opportunities independently.

  • Good Microsoft Excel, Word and general IT skills.

  • The ability to manage multiple enquiries and deadlines effectively.

Experience in groundworks, reinforced concrete, formwork, basements or civil engineering would be advantageous but is not essential.

Career Progression

Working directly with the Managing Director, you'll gain valuable experience across tendering, estimating, commercial negotiations, client management and business development.

For the right person, there is genuine scope to progress into a Commercial Manager or Pre-Construction Manager position as the company continues to grow.

We're looking for someone who wants to build a long-term career, take ownership of their work and make a meaningful contribution to the success of the business.
