About the Role
A well-established bespoke joinery manufacturer is looking for a reliable and hardworking Driver & Factory Operative to join their busy manufacturing operation.
This is a varied, hands-on position combining London deliveries and collections with general factory, warehouse and operational duties.
You will be responsible for safely transporting customer products, materials and finished bespoke joinery, while also supporting the smooth running of the factory and assisting different production departments as required.
The successful candidate will be professional, dependable and organised, with a strong work ethic and good attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out daily deliveries and collections across London and surrounding areas.
- Safely load, secure, transport and unload materials and finished bespoke joinery.
- Handle customer products carefully to ensure they arrive safely and without damage.
- Check deliveries against delivery notes and obtain signatures where required.
- Report delivery issues, shortages, defects or damage promptly.
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects.
- Keep company vehicles clean, organised and maintained to a professional standard.
- Assist with loading and unloading supplier deliveries.
- Move materials, components and finished products between departments.
- Prepare products for dispatch, including packaging and protection.
- Support joiners, machinists, CNC operators, spray finishers and other factory staff when required.
- Assist installation teams with loading and vehicle preparation.
- Support general stock movements and warehouse duties.
- Maintain a clean and organised workshop, warehouse, yard and loading areas.
- Dispose of waste materials and maintain high standards of housekeeping.
- Return tools, equipment and materials to their designated locations.
- Report damaged equipment, unsafe conditions or maintenance issues.
- Follow all company Health & Safety and manual handling procedures.
- Represent the company professionally when visiting customers and suppliers.
- Carry out other reasonable duties to support the efficient running of the business.
Requirements
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Minimum 5 years' driving experience.
- Good knowledge and experience of driving throughout London and surrounding areas.
- Previous experience in a delivery, warehouse, factory, construction or manufacturing environment.
- Experience handling valuable or delicate products and materials.
- Good understanding of safe manual handling.
- Physically fit and comfortable lifting and moving materials safely.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety procedures.
- Good time management and organisational skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual and flexible with a positive attitude.
- Previous experience within joinery, woodworking, manufacturing or construction would be advantageous, although this is not essential for the right candidate.
