As the procurement and buying manager, you’ll be responsible for leading a team of Buyers and managing the procurement of roofing and cladding materials, plant, equipment and services, ensuring cost-effective purchasing and the timely delivery of all project requirements.
You’ll work closely with Project Managers, the Design Team and suppliers to coordinate procurement schedules, negotiate favourable commercial terms, maintain supply chain performance and resolve delivery or quality issues.
You’ll be monitoring material costs, oversees purchase records, ensures compliance with ISO standards and drives efficient procurement processes to keep projects on programme and within budget.
- Position Duties
- Manage and lead a team of three Buyers, providing guidance and support to ensure effective procurement operations.
- Procure roofing and cladding materials, goods and services to meet business and project requirements.
- Negotiate competitive pricing and commercial terms to achieve best value for the business.
- Work closely with Project Managers, the Design Team and Procurement Manager to coordinate procurement activities.
- Build, maintain and develop strong relationships with suppliers to ensure a reliable and efficient supply chain.
- Manage the procurement of long lead-time items alongside urgent site demands to prevent project delays.
- Monitor material costs, report price increases and maintain accurate procurement records and spreadsheets.
- Track purchase orders and proactively resolve any delivery delays or supply issues.
- Arrange the return and replacement of non-conforming or damaged materials.
- Ensure the supply chain operates in line with company ISO standards and quality procedures.
- Process purchase orders and maintain accurate purchase ledger records.
- Read and interpret construction drawings and complete material take-offs where required.
- Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, reduce costs and enhance supply chain performance.
