We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Estimator to join an established and growing business.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong estimating background who is confident interpreting drawings, specifications and client requirements and producing accurate, competitive quotations.
Working closely with customers, suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams, you will be responsible for preparing estimates and tenders from initial enquiry through to submission, ensuring costs are accurate and projects are commercially viable.
- Work Hours- 9am- 5pm Monday- Friday
- Location- Derby
Key Responsibilities
- Review enquiries, drawings, specifications and project requirements.
- Prepare accurate and competitive estimates and quotations.
- Carry out material, labour and subcontractor costings.
- Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Complete take-offs and identify project requirements.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal departments to clarify requirements.
- Identify potential risks, exclusions and opportunities within tenders.
- Ensure estimates are completed accurately and within required deadlines.
- Maintain estimating records and update costs where required.
- Support the commercial team with tender negotiations and project handovers.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and supply chain partners.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have
- Previous experience working as an Estimator within construction, engineering, manufacturing or a related environment.
- Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Experience producing detailed estimates and quotations.
- Good understanding of materials, labour and subcontractor costs.
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple enquiries and meet deadlines.
- Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and estimating software.
- A proactive approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team.
