About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Transport Manager to oversee the day-to-day management of our passenger transport operations. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the efficient and compliant running of our fleet, drivers, and associated transport services, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a team of around 20 drivers and vehicles, ensuring compliance with all legal and safety requirements.
- Plan and oversee daily operations, including vehicle allocation, driver scheduling, and route planning.
- Coordinate with interchange supervisors and ensure smooth passenger changeovers.
- Organise and manage additional transport arrangements, including taxis, when required for customer journeys.
- Provide leadership, support, and development for drivers, supervisors, and operational staff.
- Ensure cost-effective use of resources while maintaining high service standards.
- Monitor vehicle maintenance schedules and liaise with engineering/maintenance teams.
- Handle incident reports, driver performance, and disciplinary matters as necessary.
- Work closely with the Traffic Assistant, who will provide support and report directly into the Transport Manager.
- Maintain accurate records in line with company policies and compliance requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and customer experience.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a Transport Manager or similar role within the passenger transport or logistics sector.
- Strong knowledge of transport legislation, compliance, and driver hours regulations.
- Proven ability to manage and motivate staff across multiple levels.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and make sound operational decisions.
- A CPC in Passenger Transport Management is highly desirable.
