Our client is a well-established construction company based in the Newcastle upon Tyne area, delivering complex and varied projects across the commercial, retail, heritage and education sectors. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of the commercial management of multiple projects from pre-construction through to final delivery.

Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, the successful candidate will play a key role in driving project success, ensuring strong financial control and adding value across a range of high-profile schemes. Position Remuneration
  • Salary of £60,000 - £70,000 depending on experience

Position Overview
  • Take ownership of the commercial management and financial performance of multiple construction projects
  • Manage projects from pre-construction stages through to completion and final account
  • Act as the commercial lead, ensuring effective cost control, reporting and financial governance
  • Work closely with internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers and external clients to support successful project delivery
  • Monitor project costs, budgets and commercial performance to maximise profitability
  • Prepare and review project valuations, variations, cost reports and financial forecasts
  • Support contract administration and commercial decision-making throughout the project lifecycle
  • Identify commercial risks and implement effective mitigation strategies
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, providing commercial guidance and support
  • Contribute to a collaborative and high-performing team environment
  • Deliver projects across the commercial, retail, heritage and education sectors
Position Requirements
  • Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry
  • Previous experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience acting as a commercial lead is essential
  • Degree-qualified with a minimum of 4 years' relevant experience, or non-degree qualified with at least 7 years' relevant experience
  • Strong commercial awareness with a sound understanding of cost control and project financial management
  • Highly organised with a methodical approach and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle due to regional travel requirements
