Position Duties
- Lead and manage transport planning projects, ensuring delivery to agreed budgets and timelines
- Prepare, review, and approve technical reports such as Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, and Technical Notes
- Oversee and support the production of technical drawings and transport-related designs
- Apply and review transport modelling techniques to assess trip generation and distribution
- Manage and mentor team members, including training, delegation, and performance appraisals
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, maintaining strong professional relationships
- Project manage schemes, including resource planning and coordination
- Prepare and review appeal documentation, including Statements of Case and Proofs of Evidence
- Act as an expert witness at appeal hearings and public inquiries where required
- Attend and lead meetings with clients, stakeholders, and project teams
- Prepare, review, and issue fee proposals and tender submissions
- Identify and pursue business development opportunities, including networking and winning new work
- Support and contribute to marketing initiatives and company promotion
Position Requirements
- Degree-level qualification (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field
- Membership of a relevant professional organisation
- Minimum of 7 years' experience in transport planning
- Extensive practical and theoretical knowledge of transport planning principles
- Experience managing, training, and mentoring staff
- Proven experience in project management, including budget and programme control
- Experience preparing and reviewing key documents (e.g. Transport Assessments, Statements, Travel Plans, Technical Notes)
- Experience with appeal documentation (Statements of Case, Common Ground, Proof of Evidence)
- Experience acting as an expert witness at hearings or public inquiries
- Experience in business development, including winning work and networking
Position Remuneration
- 5-hour workdays with flexible working hours, with a core hour requirement allowing for lifestyle and work life balance
- 24 days annual leave, increasing with length of service plus 8 bank holidays
- Day off on your birthday if it falls on a working day
