A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Production Supervisor to join a well-established and growing bespoke joinery manufacturing business. The company specialises in the manufacture of high-quality bespoke joinery and furniture for residential and commercial projects, and is looking for an experienced Production Supervisor to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the factory floor. This is a hands-on supervisory role, responsible for overseeing Bench Joiners, Machinists, CNC Operators, Veneering, Assembly, Factory Operatives and temporary or agency staff. You will organise daily production, allocate workloads, monitor project progress, resolve manufacturing issues and ensure work moves efficiently through each stage of production.

The successful candidate will be a confident and organised leader who can maintain control of multiple live projects while ensuring high standards of quality, efficiency, traceability, Health & Safety and workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily Production
    • Organise and supervise the daily workload across the factory.
    • Allocate work to production staff according to priorities and production requirements.
    • Ensure manufacturing follows the agreed production programme.
    • Monitor progress throughout the working day.
    • Identify and resolve production issues quickly and effectively.
    • Escalate any issues that may affect project deadlines or delivery dates.
    • Ensure production targets and deadlines are achieved.
  • Production Workflow
    • Maintain a continuous and efficient workflow throughout the factory.
    • Ensure materials, components, drawings and relevant information are available before manufacture begins.
    • Identify and prevent unnecessary delays and production bottlenecks.
    • Ensure completed work moves promptly to the next stage of manufacture.
    • Maintain an organised and efficient production environment.
    • Monitor the progress of live projects through each manufacturing stage.
  • Quality Control
    • Monitor quality throughout the manufacturing process.
    • Ensure products are manufactured in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
    • Identify defects or quality issues before work progresses to the next stage.
    • Reduce rework and manufacturing errors by maintaining high quality standards.
    • Address quality concerns promptly and communicate issues to the relevant teams.
  • Communication
    • Communicate regularly with senior management and Design regarding production progress.
    • Inform Project Management of delays, issues or risks that could affect delivery.
    • Ensure effective communication between departments when work moves between production stages.
    • Report material shortages, defects, technical issues and manufacturing problems promptly.
    • Ensure production teams have the information required to complete their work efficiently.
  • Production Management Systems
    • Maintain accurate production records using Monday.com.
    • Update production information daily.
    • Record project progress, delays and reasons for delays.
    • Highlight projects that are at risk of missing deadlines.
    • Ensure production schedules accurately reflect the status of all live projects.
  • Factory Organisation
    • Maintain a clean, safe and organised factory environment.
    • Ensure materials, components and completed products are stored in designated areas.
    • Ensure completed work is clearly identified and protected.
    • Maintain good housekeeping standards across all production areas.
    • Promote an organised and efficient working environment.
  • Health & Safety
    • Promote safe working practices throughout the manufacturing facility.
    • Ensure machinery and workshop equipment are operated safely.
    • Identify and report hazards immediately.
    • Maintain safe, clean and tidy working areas.
    • Ensure Company Health & Safety policies, procedures and safe systems of work are followed.
    • Lead by example in maintaining a strong Health & Safety culture.

About You

  • Previous experience in a Production Supervisor, Production Manager, Workshop Supervisor or similar manufacturing leadership role.
  • Experience within joinery, woodworking, furniture or a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of production workflows and factory operations.
  • Experience supervising a team within a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • The ability to prioritise workloads across multiple live projects.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • The confidence to identify and resolve production issues.
  • Excellent communication and people-management skills.
  • A practical, hands-on approach to production management.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using production management systems or software; Monday.com experience would be advantageous.
  • Experience within bespoke or high-end joinery manufacturing would be highly advantageous.
