Our client, a well-established logistics provider specialising in UK and European transport solutions, is seeking a highly organised and commercially focused European Fleet Planner to join their growing operations team. Due to continued business growth and increased customer demand, this role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced and rewarding environment.
Following a successful probation period, the position offers a hybrid working model: 3 days in the office, 2 days from home.
Role Overview:
As a European Fleet Planner, you will be responsible for the planning and coordination of both contract and ad hoc transport movements across the UK and Europe, using a mix of subcontracted traction and internal resources. You'll focus on optimising vehicle usage, maximising profitability, and ensuring exceptional service levels are maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan all collections and deliveries across the UK and Europe based on customer requirements.
- Collaborate with planners and other offices to maximise vehicle and resource utilisation.
- Minimise empty mileage and ensure trucks meet minimum guaranteed kilometres each month.
- Maximise gross profit across all jobs and support commercial quoting using cost tools.
- Identify new business opportunities and high-performing routes to boost earnings and efficiency.
- Assist the Forwarding team with urgent orders using internal fleet when necessary.
- Onboard and manage new subcontracted carriers, ensuring compliance and high service standards.
- Increase turnover by balancing contract work with ad hoc opportunities.
- Provide out-of-hours support when required, including driver and customer communication.
- Support team members with holiday and absence cover.
- Analyse issues and make timely decisions to uphold customer satisfaction and profitability.
- Maintain all relevant operational processes and provide feedback for improvements.
Candidate Requirements:
- Proven experience in a transport or fleet planning role, ideally involving European operations.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of profit impact in operational decisions.
- Excellent planning, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Experience with transport management systems and planning tools.
- Collaborative team player with a proactive mindset.
Remuneration & Benefits:
- Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 (Dependent on experience)
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 17:00
