Our client is looking for an experienced Plant Fitter to join their team. The role involves servicing, maintaining and repairing heavy plant and machinery used within the construction, quarrying and rail sectors. The successful candidate will be capable of working both independently and as part of a team, whether in the workshop or out in the field.
Position Overview
- Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on heavy plant and machinery.
- Diagnose faults using computer diagnostic equipment.
- Repair or replace damaged components and test machinery to ensure safe operation.
- Build, refurbish and assemble mechanical components.
- Perform maintenance on hydraulic systems and associated equipment.
- Attend breakdowns at depots and customer sites as required.
- Carry out welding and general mechanical repairs.
- Replenish fluids and components as part of routine maintenance.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety procedures.
- Undertake statutory and product-specific training when required.
Position Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Plant Fitter, Heavy Plant Engineer, Mechanical Fitter or similar.
- Time-served apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualifications preferred.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Experience working on construction, quarrying, rail or heavy plant equipment.
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems and mechanical repairs.
- Welding experience would be advantageous.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to health and safety and high standards of workmanship.
- Full UK Driving Licence required.
Position Remuneration
- £18.00 - £20.00 per hour (dependent on experience).
- Full-time, permanent position.
- Company van, fuel card and mobile phone provided.
- Company pension scheme.

- Stable long-term opportunity working on specialist heavy plant equipment 08:30am to 16:30am Monday to Friday.
- Overtime opportunities may be available at time and a half during periods of high workload.
