A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Bench Joiner to join a well-established and growing bespoke joinery manufacturing business. The company specialises in the manufacture of high-quality bespoke joinery and furniture for residential and commercial projects, and is looking for a skilled Bench Joiner to join its manufacturing team. You will be responsible for the manufacture, assembly, fitting and finishing of bespoke joinery products, working from technical and manufacturing drawings and using both traditional and modern woodworking techniques.
Working alongside experienced Design, CNC, Machining, Veneering and Production teams, you will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered to a high standard of craftsmanship, accuracy and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret production drawings, assembly drawings, cutting lists and manufacturing documentation.
- Manufacture and assemble bespoke cabinets, furniture, doors, wardrobes, wall panelling, reception desks and other bespoke joinery products.
- Carry out dry fitting of components to ensure dimensional accuracy prior to final assembly.
- Assemble bespoke joinery products using appropriate construction methods and techniques.
- Fit hardware including hinges, drawer systems, runners, locks, handles, lighting components and specialist ironmongery.
- Carry out trimming, fitting, sanding and preparation of components to achieve the required finish.
- Use hand tools, portable power tools and workshop equipment safely and correctly.
- Ensure completed products comply with manufacturing drawings, specifications and quality standards.
- Carry out quality checks throughout the manufacturing and assembly process.
- Identify manufacturing defects or issues and report them promptly.
- Work closely with CNC Operators and Machinists to resolve manufacturing or fitting issues.
- Assist with the movement, storage and protection of completed joinery products.
- Maintain clear communication regarding project progress, quality and manufacturing issues.
- Keep workstations clean, organised and safe throughout the working day.
- Maintain and safely store Company tools and equipment.
- Carry out routine maintenance of tools and workshop equipment.
- Comply with all Health & Safety policies, safe systems of work and manufacturing procedures.
- Support colleagues across the manufacturing department to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and on time.
About You:
- Previous experience working as a Bench Joiner, ideally within a bespoke joinery, furniture or high-end woodworking environment.
- Strong experience in the manufacture and assembly of bespoke joinery.
- The ability to read and interpret detailed technical and manufacturing drawings.
- Good knowledge of traditional and modern woodworking techniques.
- Experience fitting a range of hardware, ironmongery and specialist components.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality craftsmanship.
- The ability to work accurately to tight measurements and tolerances.
- Competence using hand tools, portable power tools and woodworking machinery.
- A good understanding of Health & Safety within a workshop environment.
- A reliable, practical and proactive approach to work.
- The ability to work independently as well as effectively within a wider production team.
- Experience working on high-end residential, commercial or bespoke furniture projects would be highly advantageous.
