Streamline Recruitment are working in partnership with a major blue-chip client based in Tilbury, supplying HGV1 Container drivers for their logistics operation. The Role
As a Class 1 Container Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transport of containers from ports and distribution hubs across the UK. You will be working with a well-structured operation, focusing on port-to-depot, depot-to-port, and customer deliveries using container trailers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate Class 1 (C+E) vehicles, specifically for container haulage
- Collect and deliver 20ft and 40ft containers to and from ports, railheads, and customer sites
- Ensure all container securing procedures are followed, including twist-lock checks and VBS (Vehicle Booking System) use
- Accurately complete relevant delivery and container paperwork
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects
- Follow port security protocols and site safety standards
- Maintain a professional and presentable appearance, acting as a key point of contact for our client
- Comply with driver regulations including tachograph laws and Working Time Directive
Candidate Requirements:
- Full UK Class 1 (C+E) licence
- Minimum 1 year of container driving experience preferred
- Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
- Knowledge of port operating systems (e.g., Tilbury, London Gateway) and VBS bookings
- Valid Container Port Cards (London Gateway, Southampton and Felixstowe)
- Comfortable using container trailers and twist-lock systems
- Strong understanding of EU Drivers Hours and working regulations
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Physically fit and able to handle some manual duties when required
- Willingness to do occasional nights out
