On behalf of Arup, we are looking for a Finance Analyst for an initial 6-month contract based in Cardiff. It is a hybrid role.

Purpose Of The Role

The Finance Analyst will support the Finance Business Partner and Finance Operations team, providing professional finance guidance to drive commercial and financial best practice. The role involves building strong relationships with business and project leaders, using data and analysis to inform decisions, and ensuring excellence in transactional finance processes.

What You'll Do
  • Develop strong knowledge of clients and projects to support Finance Business Partner with trend analysis, forecasts, and insights.
  • Partner with Project Managers to monitor project finances, assess KPIs, maintain forecasts, and resolve variances or anomalies.
  • Prepare and review fee invoices and payment applications, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with project forecasts.
  • Advise Project and Bid Managers on financial setup, contracting, tax considerations, and client requirements, ensuring best practices and adherence to policies.
  • Support financial cycle activities, including month-end reporting, ABP/Outturn, overhead analysis, and monitoring job expenditures versus budgets.
  • Assist with transactional finance tasks, data maintenance, timesheet support, audits, and staff training on systems, policies, and best practices.
  • Work with finance teams, support change initiatives, implement processes, and undertake ad hoc tasks as directed by the Finance Business Partner.
Key Skills And Experience Required
  • Finance/business-related degree, A-levels (Grade C+) or relevant apprenticeship; willingness to pursue professional accounting qualifications (AAT, CIMA, ACCA).
  • Experience in a similar role, with understanding of basic accounting principles, Microsoft Office, and digital tools.
  • Strong numeracy, analytical ability, and attention to detail; able to interpret data, provide clear explanations, and challenge constructively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; able to build relationships and work effectively with stakeholders and teams.
  • Confident, logical thinker with initiative; able to anticipate problems, identify improvements, meet deadlines, and work independently or collaboratively.
