The primary role of the Laboratory Assistant is to support the Laboratory Coordinator and the Laboratory team to ensure that they can perform their duties effectively. The Laboratory Assistant works under the line management of the National Laboratory Manager and day-to-day supervision of a Laboratory Coordinator.

The Laboratory Assistant helps to improve the efficiency of the organization by enhancing the productivity of the Laboratory Coordinator and of the specialist teaching laboratories. This allows the Laboratory Coordinator and others in the Laboratory Team to focus on other core tasks, while the Laboratory Assistant takes care of more menial tasks and other responsibilities associated with preparing laboratory-based teaching sessions and spaces.

To read more about the role, we are seeking someone with flexibility throughout the week, as you may be asked to cover various tasks. As this role involves manual handling tasks, the recruitment process will include a functional capability assessment for the preferred candidate.
