Job Description

At Straumann Group, we know that the key to our growth is a high-performing sales team. That’s why we’re seeking a Business Development Manager (BDM) to support our sales activities within the UK and Ireland. This will include finding, qualifying, and closing sales with new ‘switcher’ customers who can benefit from our products and services. As the first line of communication with prospects, our BDMs will have a strong understanding of the sales process and Straumann Group portfolio. They will excel at researching leads, starting new relationships, and setting up our Territory Managers for success in ongoing account maintenance.

A quick learner with strong communication skills, they will have the ability to showcase the breadth of Straumann Group\’s offerings compellingly. Every potential customer is an opportunity to boost revenue growth, customer acquisition, and profitability.

This is a development position within Straumann. Part of the role will include supporting the regional team with activities such as mentoring, training, onboarding new employees, and managing a small corporate account to develop commercial skills.

Objectives of this Role

  • Outbound calling and outreach via digital channels to engage prospects.
  • Building relationships with key decision-makers, identifying needs, business issues, and aspirations through needs analysis.
  • Representing Straumann Group products and services, understanding account needs to identify how our solutions can help.
  • Overcoming objections and communicating our offerings and value propositions effectively.
  • Generating leads and nurturing warm prospects while identifying new opportunities.
  • Managing a pipeline of prospects and engaging Territory Managers at the appropriate stages for sales or onboarding, ensuring smooth handovers.
  • Transferring opportunities to the appropriate sales team members for closing or account maintenance.
  • Contributing to organizational success by generating leads, creating quotes, and closing sales.
  • Upselling opportunities and supporting coverage of vacant territories remotely when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively seek new business using telephone, social media, and email across the UK market.
  • Qualify leads promptly from partners and marketing events.
  • Use quotation tools to generate quotes and close sales where possible.
  • Set up meetings between prospects and sales teams, capturing all leads in CRM.
  • Drive event attendance via outbound calls.
  • Maintain consistent CRM usage, including quotes and finance tools.
  • Coach team members on pipeline management and CRM use.
  • Onboard high-value prospects and hand over to account managers.
  • Attend events as requested by management.

Required Capabilities, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Ability to track progress using measurement tools.

  • Strong relationship-building skills.
  • Ethical approach to sales and brand reputation.
  • Preferably degree-educated, team player, eager to learn and succeed.
  • Experience in the dental sector is a strong advantage.
  • Proven sales record with exceeding lead targets and closing deals.
  • Creative problem-solving and analytical skills.
