We are currently recruiting for an experienced and dedicated Senior Support Worker to join a children's residential home in Wolverhampton supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). This is a full-time permanent position working a 2 on / 4 off shift pattern within a 3-bed residential setting. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Registered Manager, leading shifts, mentoring staff, and ensuring high standards of care are consistently delivered. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate residential childcare professional looking to progress within a supportive and growing organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead shifts and support the day-to-day running of the home
- Provide high-quality care and support to children and young people
- Promote positive outcomes, independence, and emotional wellbeing
- Support young people with education, routines, appointments, and activities
- Assist with care plans, risk assessments, and incident reporting
- Administer medication in line with company policies
- Support and mentor Residential Support Workers
- Ensure safeguarding and Ofsted standards are maintained at all times
- Build positive relationships with young people, families, and professionals
Requirements
- Previous experience within children's residential care
- Experience supporting young people with EBD and challenging behaviours
- Level 3 Diploma in Children's Residential Childcare (or working towards)
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and Ofsted requirements
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work shifts, including evenings and weekends
- Full UK Driving Licence is essential
