We are looking for compassionate and dedicated Residential Support Workers to join a specialist children's residential home supporting children and young people with learning disabilities, autism and additional complex needs. You will help provide a safe, nurturing and structured environment where every child is supported to develop confidence, independence and essential life skills.
- Build positive, trusting and professional relationships with children and young people.
- Support children with learning disabilities, autism and additional needs in line with individual care plans.
- Promote independence and support the development of practical daily living skills.
- Assist with personal care, hygiene, medication and health needs where required and appropriately trained.
- Support communication using each child's preferred communication methods and tools.
- Encourage participation in education, hobbies, appointments and community activities.
- Provide emotional support, reassurance and consistent boundaries.
- Use Positive Behaviour Support and approved de-escalation strategies when responding to behaviours of concern.
- Maintain accurate daily records, incident reports, medication records and shift handovers.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, social workers, education providers and healthcare professionals.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times.
A genuine passion for supporting children and young people is essential. Experience in children's residential care, SEND education, supported living, youth work or a similar care setting is preferred. A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection is necessary. Flexibility to work long days, sleep-ins, weekends and bank holidays is required. A full UK driving licence is needed. Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or an equivalent qualification is desirable. Experience supporting children with learning disabilities and autism is beneficial. Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support, sensory needs and trauma-informed practice is advantageous. Medication Administration and First Aid training is also required.
Pay starting from £13.50 per hour, with approximately £75.00 payment for each completed sleep-in. Guaranteed 40-hour permanent contract with overtime opportunities. Comprehensive induction and ongoing paid training provided, along with support to complete the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare where required.
