About the Role: We are recruiting a committed and experienced Childrens Residential Home Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of a childrens residential learning disability service in the Burton-on-Trent area. The Deputy Manager will play a vital role in ensuring high-quality, child-centred care is delivered at all times in line with Ofsted regulations, safeguarding requirements and best practice. This is a hands-on role where the Deputy Manager will work shifts, including sleep-ins, and lead by example on the floor while supporting staff development, compliance, and positive outcomes for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Registered Manager in the safe, effective and compliant management of the home
  • Acting as the Deputy Manager on shift, providing leadership, guidance and supervision to the staff team
  • Working directly with children and young people with learning disabilities, complex needs and associated behaviours
  • Ensuring care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support plans are implemented and reviewed
  • Promoting safeguarding, positive behaviour support and trauma-informed practice
  • Supporting recruitment, induction, supervision and staff development
  • Maintaining high standards of compliance with Ofsted regulations
  • Deputising for the Registered Manager when required

Requirements:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (Essential)
  • Experience working in a childrens residential setting
  • Strong safeguarding and regulatory knowledge
  • Ability to work shifts including sleep-ins
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Passion for supporting vulnerable children and young people

Desirable:

  • Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Childrens Residential Care (or willingness to work towards)
  • Experience supporting children with learning disabilities or autism
  • Experience in a senior or acting-up role
