We are recruiting a Senior Childrens Residential Support Worker for an OFSTED-registered therapeutic childrens home in Crewe, supporting children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). This is a temp to perm opportunity within an established and specialist residential service that is committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and trauma-informed environment where children feel valued, supported, and able to thrive.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role within a therapeutic service that places emotional wellbeing, stability, and positive relationships at the heart of its practice. You will contribute to the delivery of high-quality, child-centred care that meets OFSTED Quality Standards and supports children to achieve positive outcomes.
A comprehensive induction and ongoing training will be provided to support you in your role.
Role Overview
As a Senior Childrens Residential Support Worker, you will take a lead role in supporting children on a day-to-day basis, modelling best practice and supporting staff on shift to deliver consistent, therapeutic care. You will work closely with the management team to help maintain a stable, structured, and nurturing home environment that supports childrens emotional, social, and practical development. You will support children to build resilience, develop independence, and feel safe within a calm and predictable home setting. Shift patterns include early, late, long day shifts, and sleep-in duties, worked as part of a structured rota.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, therapeutic care in line with the Childrens Homes (England) Regulations and OFSTED Quality Standards
- Lead shifts and act as a positive role model for staff, supporting consistent and reflective practice
- Build warm, trusting, and meaningful relationships with children and young people
- Support children with EBD to feel emotionally safe, understood, and supported
- Promote positive behaviour through clear boundaries, routines, and trauma-informed approaches
- Support children with daily routines, personal care (where required), education, and recreational activities
- Implement, follow, and review individual care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support plans
- Encourage the development of emotional regulation, independence, and essential life skills
- Maintain accurate, child-focused, and reflective records in line with regulatory and organisational requirements
- Actively promote safeguarding, health & safety, and equality & diversity at all times
- Work collaboratively with families, professionals, and external agencies
- Contribute to a calm, stable, and nurturing therapeutic environment
Requirements
- Level 3 Diploma in Childrens Residential Care (or equivalent) essential
- Minimum of 6 months experience in a Senior Childrens Residential Support Worker role within a childrens residential setting
- Experience supporting children and young people with EBD, trauma, or complex emotional needs
- Demonstrated ability to lead shifts, guide staff practice, and maintain high standards of care
- Ability to work flexibly across a 24-hour rota, including early, late, long day, and sleep-in shifts
- Calm, resilient, and reflective approach to managing challenging situations
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to delivering child-centred, therapeutic care that meets OFSTED Quality Standards
- Willingness to commit to a temp to perm role within a developing service
- Enhanced DBS (Child & Adult workforce) Update Service preferred
- Full UK driving licence preferred
