We are a friendly and supportive GP practice based in Bude. We are looking for a Patient Services Advisor to join our expanding team at the medical centre. The role is for 4 days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday and Friday). The role will be to answer the telephone or work on the front desk to deal with all patient queries and book appointments as per our protocols. There is a detailed job description attached. The role is varied and interesting and involves dealing with patient requirements, prescription requests and online requests for non‑urgent appointments. We require someone with excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude to complement our team. Anyone offered the role will be given full training.
Main duties of the job:
- Dealing with patient queries.
- Booking appointments.
- Checking patients in who have arrived for their appointment.
- Telephoning patients to book them into an available appointment.
- Monitoring and dealing with online requests.
- Processing repeat prescription requests.
- Dealing with new patient registrations.
Job responsibilities:
- To provide care navigation, support and services to all members of the patient practice and allied professionals.
- To provide administrative support and services to all members of the Practice team.
- To ensure total familiarity with the patient appointments system, including routine and emergency bookings and protocols.
- To book appointments and recalls for patients and clinicians, either on the telephone or face‑to‑face at the desk.
- To be aware of changes in the implementation of bookings as needed.
- To greet patients at the desk and monitor arrivals, monitoring the flow of patients in the waiting areas to ensure the appointment system accurately reflects the arrival of patients.
- To provide working and cover support to all other members of the team or as the business needs arise.
- To familiarise yourself with the medicine management protocols and processing repeat prescription requests from patients.
- Referring any queries or concerns to the clinical team.
Qualifications:
- GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths.
- Qualifications in reception or customer service.
Experience:
- Experience of working in a customer service role.
- Working in a busy environment.
- Experience of using Systmone, our clinical and appointments system.
