Tech talent matchmaker and pink squirrel hunter within future mobility

Ever wanted to put cutting-edge maritime and submersible technology through its paces? Enjoy being hands-on, solving problems in the field, and making an impact? If so, this is your chance to join a fast-moving team where testing isn’t just a process—it’s a mission.

The Test & Evaluation team works across a wide range of advanced systems, covering everything from full-scale development testing to real-world field trials. Whether it’s deep-sea deployments, autonomous vehicles, or complex operational scenarios, we ensure our products are ready for action. If it involves testing, we’re on it.

As a Test & Evaluation Engineer , you’ll be at the forefront of trialing state-of-the-art maritime and submersible technology. You’ll work alongside engineers, test specialists, and external partners to plan, execute, and refine test operations across the UK and Europe. If you love variety, thrive under pressure, and aren’t afraid to get your hands dirty, you’ll fit right in.

What You’ll Do:

  1. Work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary team to develop and test the next generation of submersible tech.
  2. Get hands-on with cutting-edge systems, preparing them for trial deployments.
  3. Organize and manage deployment logistics—because even the best tech needs to get where it’s going!
  4. Assess risks and implement smart mitigations to keep everything running smoothly.
  5. Install and integrate systems into test platforms.
  6. Help craft and refine Standard Operating Procedures and user documentation.
  7. Perform daily system checks, inspections, and maintenance—because details matter.
  8. Execute test operations in the field, following (and improving) test procedures.
  9. Troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade systems on the fly—adaptability is key.
  10. Lead launch and recovery operations in real-world conditions.
  11. Capture every detail with thorough test reports and feedback for design teams.
  12. Spend 50%+ of your time in the field, testing nearshore and offshore—this will be in the South of the UK.

What You Bring:

  1. A maritime trade background with subsea experience or hands-on work with autonomous vehicles.
  2. The ability to read and interpret technical documentation (mechanical drawings, schematics, electrical diagrams—you name it).
  3. Experience running functional checkouts, system tests, and diagnosing issues like a pro.
  4. Knowledge of Defence and Civil Maritime Regulations related to sub-surface testing.
  5. Strong communication and teamwork skills—you’ll be working with engineers, operators, and external partners.
  6. A knack for problem-solving and working independently in fast-moving environments.
  7. Willingness to go the extra mile—extended hours and travel are part of the adventure.
  8. A valid driver’s license (because the best test sites aren’t always next door).
  9. The ability to obtain UK Security Check (SC) clearance or higher.

If you’re looking for a role where no two days are the same, where your work directly influences mission success, and where you get to test groundbreaking technology in real-world environments—this is it.
