Our client is an emerging leader in unmanned and autonomous aircraft systems, developing next-generation fixed-wing UAVs for logistics, defense, and research applications. They are expanding their test and evaluation capability and seeking an experienced Senior Flight Test Engineer to join a small, high-performance team driving flight safety, validation, and certification.
This is a senior, hands-on position at the intersection of engineering and flight operations. You will plan and execute structured flight test campaigns, oversee risk assessments, and ensure robust evaluation of new aircraft systems. You’ll work closely with test pilots, design engineers, and regulators to translate technical requirements into real-world, flight-proven performance data.
Key Responsibilities- Lead planning and execution of UAV flight test and evaluation activities.
- Develop and maintain detailed flight test plans, procedures, and safety documentation.
- Conduct pre- and post-flight analysis, including risk and hazard assessments.
- Coordinate with avionics, systems, and software teams on test readiness.
- Support data acquisition, instrumentation, and telemetry systems.
- Produce clear test reports and recommendations for engineering and certification use.
- Mentor junior engineers within the test and evaluation function.
- Degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Systems Engineering (or equivalent).
- Experience in flight test engineering or test & evaluation of aircraft or UAV systems.
- Exposure to CAA/EASA or MOD flight test standards.
- PPL or similar flying qualification strongly preferred.
- Prior military test experience beneficial but not essential.
- Comfortable operating in a hands-on test environment.
- Strong analytical mindset and risk management skills.
