Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) is the largest of Scotland’s seven regional transport partnerships. We run the Glasgow Subway, a host of specialist bus services and are responsible for delivering better public transport for all. SPT is currently delivering a £288m Subway Modernisation Project to improve the customer experience and secure this iconic public asset for future generations. The first new Subway trains have arrived in Glasgow and work on Subway Modernisation continues at pace this year. As a member of the Subway Operations Training Team you will equip our Subway Operations staff with the knowledge, skills and competencies to perform their duties safely and effectively. You will assist the Lead Training Officer (Operations) and Head of Service Operations & Security (Subway) by creating, developing, preparing and delivering training to the Subway Operations staff. Your initial focus will be the training of Operational Control Centre (OCC) staff. You will also deliver other training programmes/core work role competencies as the Subway Modernisation Projects progresses.
The successful candidate will have a Training qualification (City & Guilds, MOI or equivalent), A1 or D32/33 Competence Assessor qualification and Digital Skills (EDSQ) or (FSQ) qualification. Membership of a relevant professional body is desirable. The successful candidate will be experienced in designing, delivering and managing training programmes in a workplace or training environment and producing CGI to aid understanding of learners’ needs of technical subjects. You will have a working knowledge of training authoring tools for interactive e-learning content creation. You will have knowledge and understanding of an operational or customer-service environment. Knowledge and experience of railway or transport providers operating in a safety critical environment is desirable but not essential.
The successful candidate will have excellent training and presentation skills to facilitate knowledge transfer and the ability to interpret new information and develop training programmes. You will also have excellent coaching and mentoring skills. A highly motivated, reliable and capable individual you will be able to work under pressure while assessing and being able to adapt to changing priorities. You will use your communication skills and interpersonal skills to work with the Subway Operations Training Team to deliver a consistently high level of training to our staff and equip them to deliver safe, efficient and customer focused subway services.

Please note, this position falls into the high risk category under the Alcohol and Drugs policy and therefore is subject to random & for-cause testing procedures. Full time hours will be an average of 35 hours a week Monday to Friday. You will be based in the Operations Suite, Govan Subway Station, Glasgow.
