Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) is the largest of Scotland’s seven Regional Transport Partnerships, established by the Transport (Scotland) Act 2005. As well as running the iconic Glasgow Subway, SPT delivers an extensive range of public transport services including bus stations and subsidised bus services, delivers projects directly and in partnership with others, and is responsible for preparation of the statutory Regional Transport Strategy for the west of Scotland.

SPT is currently leading significant transport transformation plans, including:

  • Bus reform;
  • Clyde Metro, a regional-wide integrated transport network;
  • The latter stages of the significant Subway system modernisation.

To ensure we are in a place to deliver our ambitions, we need to consider not just process and function, but also how we take our staff, stakeholders and customers on this journey. We have a fantastic opportunity to influence the transport plans for the future in the West of Scotland. If you have the skills, mindset and a track record of positively preparing large organisations for change, planning and delivery, then this exciting role is key to preparing and delivering the future of transport in the West of Scotland.

The Senior Transformation Manager will work closely with the Head of Transformation to help shape, build and deliver SPT’s transformation agenda. This is an exciting opportunity to join at the early stages of planning SPT’s transformation programme and play a pivotal role in shaping how it is developed and delivered. Working across the organisation with senior leaders, delivery teams and corporate functions, you will help connect major projects and programmes including Clyde Metro and Bus Reform, turning ambition into a clear, co-ordinated programme of change. You will provide insight, challenge and recommendations to support effective decision-making, resource planning and delivery confidence, while also helping to develop the governance, tools, standards and capability that will underpin long-term transformation and continuous improvement across SPT.

Now is the time to help shape the future of SPT and play a leading role in delivering change that will support a better, more integrated transport network for the West of Scotland.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about driving meaningful change in the transport sector and excited by the opportunity to help shape the future of transport in the West of Scotland. As a highly motivated and organised individual, you will bring experience of managing and delivering transformation, business improvement and innovation projects, with the ability to support teams through change and build confidence across key stakeholders.

You will have strong leadership, communication and influencing skills, and the confidence to work across organisational boundaries to bring people together behind change. You will be an effective communicator, able to manage relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and ensure delivery to an exceptionally high standard.

You will have a degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline, alongside professional certification in project or change management such as PMP or PRINCE2. Full time hours will be 35 hours per week Monday to Friday. However, you may be required to undertake work outwith this norm to meet the responsibilities of the post. SPT currently operates an informal hybrid scheme of 3 days in office/2 days working from home. You will be based at 131 St Vincent Street, Glasgow. Please note, this position falls into the low risk category under the Alcohol and Drugs policy and therefore is subject to for-cause testing procedures.

Working at SPT comes with many benefits you can look forward to:

  • 33 Days Annual and Public Holiday Entitlement
  • Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Group Life Assurance Cover
  • SPT actively encourages learning and development and are committed to ongoing learning and development to support career progression
  • Employee Travel Pass Scheme - a Subway Smartcard to travel on the Glasgow Subway for free plus an additional card for a member of your household
  • Salary Sacrifice Bus or Rail Season Ticket Scheme - subsidised at a maximum of £667 towards the cost
  • Cycle to Work Scheme, Employee Assistance Programme, Long Service Awards, Credit Union

SPT encourage applications from the right candidates regardless of age, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, belief or race. SPT operates blind recruitment, which is the process of removing any and all identification details from candidate application forms. This includes identifiable personal details such as a candidate’s name, gender, ethnicity and age. This information is not visible to our Hiring Managers.
