Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) is the largest of Scotland’s seven Regional Transport Partnerships, established by the Transport (Scotland) Act 2005. As well as running the iconic Glasgow Subway, SPT delivers an extensive range of public transport services including bus stations and subsidised bus services, delivers projects directly and in partnership with others, and is responsible for preparation of the statutory Regional Transport Strategy for the west of Scotland.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Bus Development Team Leader (Infrastructure) to join the Bus Development team within our wider Bus Strategy and Delivery department. SPT is leading on the development of the Strathclyde Regional Bus Strategy (SRBS) which aims to provide a world class bus network which reverses the long-term decline in travel by bus, by developing a more efficient bus system which is fully integrated with other public transport, affordable to all and plays a key role in the social, environmental and economic development of the region.
About the Role
The Bus Development Team Leader (Infrastructure) will manage the bus infrastructure team undertaking bus infrastructure related activities in support of Agency Agreements which are in place for the management and delivery of SPT’s capital programme as well as co-ordination of the bus stop network. The postholder will provide information to the public, Councils and operators in line with Service Level Agreements and oversee and manage the maintenance of Council and SPT owned infrastructure. You will develop and manage the maintenance of bus infrastructure, including but not limited to, bus stops, shelters and timetable cases, Real Time Passenger Information (RTPI) displays and associated infrastructure. You will also assist the Head of Service Delivery with any project work.
About you
The successful candidate will have a degree or equivalent experience in a relevant subject or demonstrable relevant qualification/HND/PG Dip. You will be a highly motivated individual with excellent organisational skills. Experience of working in a facilities/infrastructure management environment is essential. Experience of working within a public transport environment is desirable. You will have experience of managing and development staff as well as liaising with internal senior staff and external bodies and attending meetings with a wide range of stakeholders. You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to manage the interfaces between multiple internal and external individuals and organisations to ensure any actions identified are delivered to an exceptionally high standard.
Full time hours will be 35 hours per week Monday to Friday. However, you may be required to undertake work outwith this norm to meet the responsibilities of the post. You will be based at 131 St Vincent Street, Glasgow. SPT operate a hybrid working pattern which allows 40% home working, i.e. 2 days per week Monday to Friday.
