About SPT
Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) is the largest of Scotland’s seven regional transport partnerships. As well as running the iconic Glasgow Subway, SPT delivers an extensive range of public transport services including bus stations and subsidised bus services, manages large transport infrastructure projects and is responsible for delivery of a long-term multi-modal transport strategy for the West of Scotland.
About the Role
SPT is delivering a wide range of exciting programmes which will have a direct impact on our existing estate. We are seeking an experienced individual to be a part of shaping that journey and bringing their expertise in facilities management to help inform how we deliver SPT’s vision. As a member of the Transport Operations team, you will lead and manage the maintenance, safety and operational readiness of all facilities across SPT’s estate. You will ensure that all sites meet regulatory standards, support service delivery and provide a safe, clean and efficient environment for passengers and staff.
You will manage the day-to-day facilities operations of buildings, stations, depots and public areas across the SPT estate. You will also manage all resources including budgets, people and assets and the development of budgets and resource plans. You will ensure that all facilities comply with all necessary regulations including health and safety, fire safety, LOLER and environmental while overseeing planned and reactive maintenance schedules. You will work closely with all teams across Transport Operations, Engineering and Maintenance to ensure works are co-ordinated and delivered efficiently with minimum disruption to customers.
The nature of this role may require you to work outwith normal office hours on occasion to support the operational requirements. You will be based at Buchanan Bus Station, Killermont Street, Glasgow. Please note, this position falls into the medium risk category under the Alcohol and Drugs policy and therefore is subject to random and for-cause testing procedures.
About You
You will have in-depth knowledge of facilities management, building management systems, fire safety and the Equality Act. You will also have in-depth knowledge of legislative requirements and delivering compliance across a diverse estate. The successful candidate will have experience of tendering, negotiating and supervising third party contractors as well as experience of managing teams of in-house staff and contractors. You will also have experience of managing projects with multi-stakeholders. You will be a highly motivated individual, with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, be responsive to changing environments and able to operate within a developing team structure. You will bring a proactive approach to the role and operate autonomously. It is essential that the successful candidate has a degree in a relevant discipline or a Facilities Management qualification and a Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH. Project management experience is desirable.
