The Role
The Leather Artisan Assistant role is designed to train the next generation of skilled leatherworkers. Through hands-on experience and expert mentorship, the successful candidate will gain knowledge in traditional and contemporary leathercraft techniques, working on real products from design to finished piece.
Please note: This is a full-time, permanent position based onsite at our beautiful Townhouse in Edinburgh City Centre.

Key Responsibilities
- Learn and practice essential leatherworking skills including:
- Cutting, skiving, and edge-finishing
- Stitching (machine and hand)
- Pattern making and template
- Assembly and product construction
- Handle different types of leather and understand their properties
- Operate basic workshop tools and machinery (e.g., splitting machines, sewing machines, embossing tools)
- Assist senior artisans and technicians on live projects
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace
- Follow health and safety procedures
- Maintain documentation and learning logs
