Duties
Reporting to the Director of Community Services, the Manager of Transit is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Public Transit, Parallel Transit and Inter-Community Transit systems, including staffing, customer relations, compliance reporting, maintenance and purchasing, in accordance with all municipal, provincial and federal regulations.
Work Performed
- Manage the Public Conventional Transit, Parallel Transit and Inter-Community Transit day-to-day operations including public relations, customer service and complaint resolution, service delivery, staff scheduling, performance management, invoicing, service and maintenance scheduling, compliance reporting (Ministry and AODA) and budget preparation, monitoring and reporting.
- Ensure practices and standard operating procedures are consistent with Collective Agreement, health & safety practices, employment standards and related regulations.
- Follow up with drivers, customers and the public on complaints related to operations.
- Submit and manage operational/capital budgets for all service delivery modes annually.
- Manage various Provincial and Federal Capital approved funding programs and Provincial Gas tax.
- Engage the public through various City initiatives, public meetings and workshops.
- Engage in City lead Committees such as Climate change working group and the Accessibility Steering Committee.
- Engage City Council through update reporting with Transit initiatives.
- Analyse expenditures and other financial information in order to develop plans, policies and budgets while improving services.
- Prepare specifications and contract documents for transit system capital procurement.
- Comply with all workplace Health and Safety Policies and Procedures including but not limited to attend and participate in all H & S training and educational activities; identify and report all H&S risks, accidents, incidents, injuries and damage and ensure all activities are carried out in a safe manner including the proper use of all assigned personal protective equipment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Community College Diploma (3 year) in Business.
- Minimum 4-5 years related professional experience.
- Valid Driver's License (Class G).
Specialized Skills, Abilities, Training, License, Memberships, or Certifications
- Extensive knowledge of Ministry of Transportation Regulations.
- Knowledge of Ontario Accessibility Regulations (AODA).
- First Aid/CPR.
