The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

Based within Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability and reporting to the Principal Planning Officer, you will be a key member of the City Centre Development Management team providing expert advice and guidance to development management colleagues and others in relation to heritage and urban design. The role will focus on helping to shape development proposals emerging within the Sauchiehall Street district as part of the HLF funded Sauchiehall Street Cultural and Heritage District initiative - part of a 10 year programme to promote and enhance the area's unique cultural and built heritage.

Specific Duties Will Include:

  • Co-ordinate with Development Management colleagues in management of applications for development proposals coming forward in the street and identify or shape opportunities arising from new developments when appropriate.
  • Liaising with colleagues as appropriate for heritage, design and conservation input into management of applications and provide advice to colleagues in relation to the delivery of projects and place-based strategies or action plans.
  • Contribute to a vision and design framework for the street in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. This will be based on best practice concepts, existing conservation area appraisals, shopfront design guides and emerging City Development Plan policies (the new plan will be adopted during the appointment period).
  • Pro-actively engage with local businesses and other stakeholders within the Sauchiehall Street District about project opportunities representing the council as appropriate.
  • Support all other aspects of the project when/where necessary such as supporting events, being present at the project space within the district and other duties as required.

Please note interviews are expected to be held w/c 23/2. This post is temporary for a period up to 23 months.
