Music Performance Tutor Location: East London Contract: Temp-to-Perm – Part time, 3 days a week Are you passionate about music and education? We\’re looking for a dynamic and dedicated Music Performance Tutor to join a thriving and fast-growing department in Waltham Forest. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people, within a supportive and creative working environment. Essential Requirements: * GCSE Grade C / 4 or above in Maths and English * A degree in a relevant subject * Proven experience working with young adults (16+) in a musical context – this may include teaching, workshop leadership, or youth work * Strong ability to coach and support vocal performance, including singing and rap * A genuine desire to pursue or continue a professional teaching career (formal teacher training will be provided if not already obtained) * Ability to engage learners by creating relevant and inspiring music performance sessions, especially within genres such as grime, jungle, R&B, and various rap styles * A deep understanding of the challenges faced by young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and the ability to connect with and support them Desirable Skills and Experience: * Proficiency in music production software (ideally Logic Pro X) * Industry experience with a creative or entrepreneurial focus * A background in professional music performance or production * Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage workload independently * A positive, solution-focused approach with strong communication and teaching skills * Experience contributing to outstanding teaching and learning (e.g., Ofsted-rated provision) * Confidence in managing learning environments effectively * A strong commitment to going the extra mile to help learners succeed * Ambition and drive to deliver exceptional standards of teaching and learner behaviour Key Responsibilities: * Promote the safety and wellbeing of all learners * Plan and deliver engaging and innovative music performance lessons * Support students in preparing and delivering performances throughout the year, including showcases and presentations * Help ensure learners stay on track, achieve their qualifications, and progress onto further opportunities * Enrich the curriculum through guest speakers, trips, and creative projects * Deliver one-to-one tutorials and maintain up-to-date individual learning plans * Provide timely and inspiring feedback using a variety of assessment methods The successful candidates will be subject to a variety of checks including, eligibility to work in the UK, an enhanced DBS disclosure and full references including one from your most recent employer.
