About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Careers Advisor to join a secondary school in South West London. This is an exciting opportunity to support students in making informed decisions about their future pathways, including further education, apprenticeships, and employment.
You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, impartial careers education, information, advice, and guidance (CEIAG) to students from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and group careers guidance to students
- Support students with career planning, applications, CV writing, and interview preparation
- Organise and deliver careers events, workshops, and employer engagement activities
- Build and maintain relationships with local employers, colleges, and training providers
- Support the school in meeting Gatsby Benchmarks and statutory careers guidance requirements
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions and destinations
- Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and senior leaders
Person Specification
Essential:
- Level 4 (or higher) qualification in Careers Guidance or willingness to work towards it
- Experience working with young people in an educational or advisory setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of post-16 and post-18 pathways, including apprenticeships and higher education
- Ability to motivate and engage students of all abilities
Desirable:
- Experience in a secondary school setting
- Understanding of the Gatsby Benchmarks framework
- Links with local employers or training providers
