A thriving secondary academy in Newham, London is seeking a dedicated and proactive Non-Teaching Head of Year to join its pastoral team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and creating a positive learning environment.

Working Hours: 8:00am – 4:00pm

Key Responsibilities

  • Visit lessons to support students and promote positive behaviour.
  • Respond promptly to on-call requests when students require behavioural support.
  • Supervise after-school detentions.
  • Respond to initial parent enquiries via email.
  • Meet with parents to discuss behaviour concerns and agree on appropriate support strategies.
  • Work closely with teaching staff and the wider pastoral team to ensure students receive the support they need to succeed.

About You

  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is confident managing behaviour in a calm, professional, and consistent manner.
  • Can build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Is organised, resilient, and able to respond effectively in a fast-paced school environment.
  • Has experience working with young people in an educational or pastoral setting (desirable).
