Our client, an Oil and Gas Operator is seeking a Senior Drilling Engineer. This is an initial 12 month PAYE contract role based in Aberdeen.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare well designs, drilling programmes and regulatory submissions in compliance with UK statutory requirements and company policies, standards and procedures.
  • Conduct well planning in accordance with the Well Delivery Process (WDP) and ensure compliance with well examination scheme.
  • Ensure detailed risk assessment (HAZOP/HAZID) conducted prior to operational execution in accordance with company risk management process.
  • Prepare scopes of work and appropriate technical specifications for procurement of equipment and services.
  • Technical lead for assigned contracts. Responsible for managing the agreed relationship with service providers and in setting the KPIs with the Contract Owner and C&P Specialist.
  • Provide input as required into preparation of permits and applications to UK regulatory authorities.
  • Prepare scoping, budgetary and AFE level well cost estimates (deterministic and/or probabilistic).
  • Timely identification of long lead material and equipment to facilitate procurement.
  • Monitor and measure performance against expectations. Analyse variances and capture lessons learned.
  • Coordinate and liaise with other company disciplines on well related issues.
  • Coordinate service company support to company.
  • Provide technical and operational support to the well operations team during execution, as required.
  • Risk assess and implement Management of Change (MoC) process for revisions to approved programmes/scopes of work in accordance with company policies, standards and procedures.
  • Review operational written instructions (after development by offshore rig management and service specialists) prior to offshore approval.
  • Report and investigate non-productive and lost time and issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) as appropriate during operations (determine root cause, define actions to prevent recurrence).
  • Implementation of lessons learned system and championing of all performance improvement initiatives applicable to drilling operations.
  • Oversee JV operations as delegated by Well Engineering Manager.
  • Emergency Response delegate.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Individual contributor. Enthusiastic self-development as a Drilling Engineer.
  • Bachelor's degree in Drilling Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or similar (preferred) or vocational training with extensive experience in well engineering and site supervision, with proven track record.
  • Relevant experience (minimum) in well engineering and site supervision.
  • IWCF Well Control Certification.
  • Able to work and communicate effectively with colleagues, partners and all other stakeholders.
  • Respecting the knowledge and experience of others, sharing information and building effective relationships.
