Our client, an Oil and Gas Operator, is seeking an experienced Control and Instrumentation Engineer. This is a 12 Month PAYE contract role based in Aberdeen.
Role Purpose: Provides control and instrumentation engineering expertise to the operating assets. SECE owner for assigned Performance Standards. Support safe operations and delivery recovery plans to address assigned ORA's and Asset Risks. Support project delivery by inputting to project specifications, attending HAZOPs/LOPAs, reviewing project deliverables and answering technical queries. Providing technical support to the operations & maintenance teams on control & instrumentation issues. Pro-actively interact with other disciplines, teams and contractors to ensure quality and consistent application of engineering processes and workflows. Maintain, enhance & audit Client Performance Standards and maintenance strategies. Identify and deliver opportunities to increase efficiency & production. Identify change opportunities to optimise asset configuration. Manage obsolescence threats to ensure reliability of the equipment through field life. Provide support and guidance to the asset operations EC&I engineer.
Travel Required: Offshore platform visits and Factory Acceptance Testing as required.
Main Tasks:
- Provides support to Control & Instrumentation Asset Support Engineer as required including holiday cover.
- Ensures operating discipline on activities specific to the asset control & instrumentation, telecommunications, and metering engineering role to sustain safe, reliable and compliant operations.
- Provides input into OMS gap assessments.
- Ensures asset control & instrumentation, and telecommunications risks are understood, controlled and continuously reduced, to help deliver safe operations.
- Supports conformance with the client and regulatory requirements.
- Responsible for compliance and updates to relevant Performance Standards.
- The development and ensuring the execution of relevant equipment maintenance strategies.
- Ensures the engineering information is up to date in the asset risk register including actions and due dates.
- Discipline input and ensures compliance with management of change procedure.
- Participates in risk assessments and longer-term asset engineering studies e.g. HAZOPs, LOPAs etc. where required.
- Provides technical input on operations procedures where required.
- Ensure appropriate instrument & control, telecoms and metering engineering codes and client standards are adhered to during modifications to the asset.
- Monitor and manage discipline specific KPIs.
- Provides input into asset defect elimination, initiates Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for production deferrals and identifies production vulnerabilities.
- Participates and provides input into asset meetings as required.
- Supports asset to analyse performance data and to create interventions as required.
- Participates in improvement initiatives where relevant.
- Tracks and manages instrument and safety system defects, risks and vulnerabilities.
- Communicates instrument & control, telecoms and metering lessons learned to Site personnel.
- Provides input to ensure gate criteria readiness for activities entering the asset schedules are enforced.
- Delivery of minor modifications and repairs.
- Cost management of the agreed budgets for activities assigned.
- Performs relevant formal technical assessments of the SECE vs Performance Standard requirements.
- Conducts self-verification on key operations and engineering processes and procedures as required.
- Follows up on actions and observations from self-verification checks that are related to instrument & control, telecoms and metering engineering.
- Supports business with Cyber Security management related to Operational Technology systems.
Professional and Behavioural Skills, Educational Requirements
Essential Skills Required:
- Significant experience in field instrumentation, process control and shutdown systems.
- Experience of Instrumentation Control Safety Systems including Fire & Gas.
- Experience in metering/measurement/analysing equipment.
- Experience of operations-critical telecoms systems.
- Expert knowledge of discipline regulatory requirements, technical codes/standards/guidelines.
- Expert Knowledge of new and emerging technology and innovation.
- Management experience of 3rd parties and package management including budgetary preparation, cost control and contractual awareness.
- Understanding of Availability and asset management processes.
- Demonstrates creative thinking and problem solving including generating innovative solutions.
Education Requirements:
- Degree qualified in a relevant discipline.
- Chartered Engineer in a relevant discipline preferred.
