Our Client are looking for an experienced Electrical Technician for a contract position based in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria. The role and responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following: –
Temporary Contract – PAYE
Start May 2026
12 months
Rotation:- 1 on / 1 off
Undertakes routine Electrical maintenance and defect repair tasks to ensure the reliability and scheduled availability of operational plant and equipment associated with gas production/processing and condensate storage.
Role Deliverables and Responsibilities
- Executes routine and on-routine maintenance activities to plant and equipment in accordance with agreed procedures and operational requirements to ensure the protection of plant, equipment and the safety of employees.
- Investigates complex technical problems relating to critical plant, identifies solutions and acts to return plant to normal operating service.
- Prepares and presents technical reports and maintains appropriate records of activities within the recognised systems in order to maintain an accurate record of activities undertaken for the benefit of future analysis and third-party audit.
- Carries out commissioning and decommissioning activities to ensure planned plant operating programmes are achieved in a timely manner.
- Contributes to the design and commissioning of plant modifications including the initiation of recommendations for modifications to ensure the ongoing availability of plant and equipment.
- Supervises other staff and vendor/contractor employees in undertaking particular work activities to ensure that activities are undertaken safely and efficiently in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
- Ensures that safe working practices and procedures are adhered to within the area of work, and that appropriate perimetry is in place to ensure the protection of plant, equipment, and the safety of employees.
- Carry out the duties of Power Technician and when suitably qualified will act as SAEP/REP.
- CMAPP Commitments and HSE Policy
- Promotes a positive Incident Free Workplace culture by driving HSES and process safety performance and regulatory compliance through adherence to company standards & procedures, including the Company\’s CMAPP and HSES Policy.
- Perform nominated emergency response role/duties and maintain the necessary competencies to perform these duties.
- Proactively maintains their technical and interpersonal skills and competencies, ensuring capabilities are up to date and in line with industry/functional best practice and that behaviours are in line with the Company\’s core Values.
- Collaborates effectively, adapting their behaviour and communication as needed to get the best from others.
- Effectively promotes ideas and opinions and can influence others in a constructive way. Maintains good relationships across all organisation levels.
Qualifications
- Demonstrable experience in petrochemical process operations or maintenance
- Sound understanding of engineering principles
- Desirable, qualified as HV or SAEP or REP
- The inherent hazards of operating in this nature and the substances involved require the job holder to possess a thorough knowledge of procedures and the process systems to ensure the ongoing integrity of health, safety and environmental performance.
- Effective communication skills both verbal and written.
- It is an expectation of the business that the job holder maintains and continues to develop the competencies necessary to carry out the role to the required standard whilst in position.
- Education
- BTEC Ordinary Certificate or equivalent in an appropriate engineering subject is necessary to provide the requisite underpinning knowledge.
- Knowledge of production/maintenance operations gained through experience of working in the oil and gas industry.
COMPEX certification is a pre-requisite
Qualified as HV, SAEP or REP
Candidates must have The Right to Work in the UK as no sponsorship is available.
