Our Oil and Gas Client having interests in ten North Sea producing oil and gas assets is currently seeking a Geomatics Project Surveyor for a contract position based in Aberdeen. The role and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

This position provides an opportunity for an experienced Project Surveyor who will be responsible for safe, high quality and efficient delivery of survey and positioning operations across the Client's North Sea portfolio.

More specifically, the role involves planning, coordinating, and managing mobile rig and well positioning activities, engineering, decommissioning and construction survey support activities, subsea positioning activities, and general positioning support as required. The Surveyor will be part of a dynamic Geomatics team, providing operations and geo‐spatial expertise to a wide range of stakeholders.

  • Provide survey and positioning expertise for offshore rig moves and well positioning operations for assigned projects
  • Provide survey and positioning expertise for offshore subsea construction and decommissioning for assigned projects
  • Manage allocated budget, schedule and deliver all associated fiscal targets and KPIs
  • Interface with key project stakeholders and survey contractors to help drive project success
  • Ensure data and reporting deliverables from operational activities are managed and corporate data stores are updated correctly
  • Maintain geodetic integrity and provide technical advice and guidance on geodetic issues
  • Produce maps, charts and other geospatial products to support projects and operations
  • Lead, support and input to operational risk assessments, HIRAs, assurance reviews and other similar exercises
  • Manage HSSE in survey and positioning operations
  • Lead After Action Review meetings and take learnings forward for other Geomatics Operations projects
  • Resourcing and supervising consultants and survey representatives involved in Geomatics operations under the Surveyor's control
  • Understand and promote relevant Geomatics expertise to asset and project teams
  • Maintain close links with colleagues across project, asset and supporting functional teams
  • Implement industry and company work processes, standards, tools, and best practices in Geomatics Operations and update or refresh key operational processes as required
  • Provide technical assurance in line with the Manage Geomatics process
  • Occasional site visits to operational worksites and contractor offices as required

Skills, experience & attributes of the candidate:

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree (BSc), or Master's degree (MSc) in a directly related Geomatics, Hydrography or related geoscience discipline
  • Have significant Geomatics Operations experience in the oil and gas or renewables energy business
  • Possess strong operational experience of offshore surveying and positioning methods, rig and well positioning, seabed surveys, engineering project support and with a strong geodesy background
  • Knowledge of geo-information management and mapping systems such as ArcGIS, AutoCAD & Navimodel is advantageous
  • Experience in defining geodetic parameters and maintaining the integrity of geodetic calculations
  • Experience managing contractor performance, HSSE, and quality assurance is a must
  • Knowledge of developing contract execution and HSSE plans
  • Solid foundation in project management with respect to resource, budget and schedule management
  • Can demonstrate visible safety leadership
  • Lead change and have strong ability to deal with uncertainty
  • Strong integration and influencing skills are a must
  • Passionate about performance and collaboration culture
  • Have an uncompromising approach to safety, ethics and compliance
