Install, restore, repair, improve, and maintain plant and equipment to achieve optimum performance, whilst working safely at all times. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the completion of daily and weekly tasks in a timely manner, adopting an analytical approach to problem solving, identifying the root cause of failures, along with proposing appropriate corrective or sustaining actions.
Key Accountabilities:
- The completion of routine maintenance tasks scheduled in the department’s activity plan, while understanding the Key Performance Indicators, and how they impact on plant performance on a daily and weekly basis.
- Report any issues or barriers to the completion of the activity plan to the Maintenance Lead.
- Where a problem occurs within the scheduled task, use own initiative to rectify the situation or, whether this can or cannot be done, notify the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Installation of plant and associated equipment. Assist in the completion of fault finding to determine the root cause of failures and identify sustaining actions to prevent their re-occurrence.
- Take an active role in Professional Maintenance projects as requested.
- Assist in the reduction of plant downtime.
- Undertaking maintenance tasks within the wider site.
Qualifications required to fulfil the role:
- Completed a maintenance or engineering apprenticeship.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades A*-C in Maths, English, and Science.
- Mechanical or Electrical.
Specific work experience and behaviours required to fulfil the role:
- Experience within an industrialised manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
- Familiar with safety requirements, e.g., Isolation and Permits to Work.
- Bench fitting, basic workshop machining, welding, and fabrication.
- Sound knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read and fault find from Mechanical, Hydraulic, and Pneumatic drawings.
- Good level of literacy essential for the role, and IT skills would be advantageous.
Permanent role with regular Afternoon and Night shifts. Permanent or Temp-to-Perm options available. Rate: £21.48 - £25.19 per hour. Starting Salary circa £43,500 - £51,000. Very good chances for promotion(s). Excellent package.
