Working remotely as a Healthy Lifestyle Advisor (HLA) on ABL’s Central Online Weight Management Service, you will support, motivate, and advise adults and/or families who are overweight or obese. You will play a vital role in helping people start the life‑changing processes necessary for sustainable weight loss and long‑term well‑being, with a particular focus on promoting physical activity as a key component of healthy lifestyle change.

Employment Details:

  • Salary: £25,000 a year pro rata
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Working pattern: Full-time

Job Responsibilities:

  • Deliver ABL Health adult and family weight management programmes through online group sessions and one‑to‑one support, with a strong emphasis on physical activity alongside nutrition and behaviour change.
  • Lead and contribute to multi‑disciplinary assessments, working closely with GPs and psychotherapists to create tailored, person‑centred care plans.
  • Deliver evidence‑based education around physical activity, nutrition and behavioural change, aligned with ABL’s programme curriculums.
  • Use a client‑centred approach with skills of positive psychology and motivational interviewing.
  • Monitor client progress through regular consultation and with the use of Microsoft Excel, identifying specific treatments for those not on track to achieve their goals.
  • Assess and support eligible clients in your caseload to receive a referral to tier 4 for bariatric surgery, remaining up to date with NICE guidance at all times.
  • Work with clients and stakeholders to co‑produce session materials.
  • Contribute to the contract performance report by submitting regular case studies to the project lead.
  • Support ABL Health’s social media pages.
  • Train and support new staff and volunteers.
  • Use SMART goal setting with individuals and groups.
  • Develop and deliver special nutrition pathways such as Low Carb, Healthy Fats and Time Restricted Eating.
  • Deliver pharmacological weight management specific groups such as Orlistat and Saxenda.
  • Develop and deliver live webinars relating to key nutrition trends and topics.
  • Keep detailed files, recording data accurately, ensuring all forms and other documentation is completed correctly.
  • Undertake and complete all mandatory and additional skills training as required.
  • Have a thorough understanding of ABL Health policies and procedures.
  • Engage and recruit potential clients at promotional and community events, where required.
  • Develop curriculum resources to be signed off by the service development team and utilised in projects.
  • Contribute to ongoing service development needs.
  • Attend and actively participate in team and wider company meetings, such as MDT and clinical supervision.
  • Maintain regular CPD in line with AFN regulations, working towards full registration when appropriate.
  • Organise own workload in order of priority and deadline dates, daily administration tasks and other work‑related activities.
  • Demonstrate personal and professional development in line with the ethos of lifelong learning.
  • Work within the framework of clinical governance to maintain and improve patient care, quality and efficiency.
  • Work from home within a space that promotes a peaceful and private environment.
  • Travel flexibly across the project area.

Person Specification – Experience:

  • Experienced in delivering behaviour change and health promotion.
  • Skilled at using digital platforms for remote support (e.g. Zoom, MS Teams, CRM systems).
  • A confident communicator, with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a caseload.
  • Passionate about physical activity, nutrition and community well‑being.
  • Flexible to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Able to work autonomously, while staying connected to the wider team.

Person Specification – Qualifications:

  • Qualified in fitness or exercise (e.g. Level 2/3 Personal Training, Exercise Referral, or similar).
