Job Overview

The Studio Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day running of our Creative Design Team. This includes managing workflow, allocating resources, maintaining high creative standards, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budget. Acting as the lynchpin between creative, production, and client services, the Studio Manager will also identify opportunities for new revenue streams, source and onboard creative talent, and drive efficiency across the studio.

Job requirements

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the below experience:

  • Resource & Workflow Management
    • Manage the scheduling and time allocation of the Creative Design team.
    • Work with Producers to align creative resource against budgets, project timelines, and client expectations.
    • Ensure studio utilisation is maximised without compromising creative quality.
  • Talent & Team Development
    • Source, recruit, and manage freelance and permanent creative talent as needed.
    • Build and maintain a strong network of designers, art directors, animators, editors, and other creative specialists.
    • Support the growth of internal talent by facilitating training, mentoring, and clear career development pathways.
  • Commercial & Strategic Input
    • Identify new opportunities for the Creative Team to generate revenue, including proactive creative pitches, upselling design services, and exploring new disciplines.
    • Monitor studio budgets, track costs, and contribute to financial reporting.
    • Balance commercial priorities with creative excellence to deliver maximum value to clients.
  • Studio Operations & Leadership
    • Oversee the smooth daily running of the studio environment, ensuring systems, processes, and best practices are in place.
    • Champion creative standards and consistency across all output.
    • Foster strong collaboration between creative, production, and client services teams.
    • Implement tools and workflows to streamline project management and reporting.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Studio Manager within an events agency environment, with experience in live events and brand experiences. (Please note: This is not a Designer role).
  • A strong network of creative talent and suppliers.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple creative projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of budgets, resourcing, and commercial processes.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills with a calm, proactive approach under pressure.
  • Skilled at building relationships with internal teams, freelancers, and clients.
  • Ability to balance creative integrity with commercial realities.
  • High level of emotional intelligence, with the ability to motivate and inspire multidisciplinary teams.
  • Competency in project management and studio workflow tools.
